Dr. Brett Massie, EdD, ATC
Dr. Massie is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Athletic Training Education Program in the Department Kinesiology and Health at Miami University. He earned his Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Cincinnati, a Master’s degree in Athletic Training from Western Michigan University, and received his B.S in Education from Miami. Dr. Massie has been a Certified Athletic Trainer for over 22 years with experience in professional baseball, NCAA Division I Athletics, and as an athletic training educator. His current research interests include the efficacy of education programs in athletic training, a comparative analysis of athletic training education programs in the U.S and Europe, and an interdisciplinary approach to preventing youth sport injuries. Additionally, Dr. Massie is the Past-President of the Greater Cincinnati Athletic Trainers’ Association. He has been a recipient of the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association University Trainer of the Year Award and, in 2005, was presented with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Service Award.
In summer 2010 Dr. Massie lead a successful student summer study abroad program to Europe visiting the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Scotland and England and is excited about the 2011 program to Australia.
