Academic Site Visits
Scottish Institute of Sport (SIS), Edinburgh Rugby Club, Royal & Ancient Golf Club, University College Dublin, Croke Park Stadium, Dublin Gaelic Football Club, Dublin Hurling Club, Gaelic Athletic Association, The Hague University, German Sport & Olympic Museum, Cologne Sport Marking Company (Sport Markt), German Sports University in Cologne, Bayern Munich Football Club, Allianz Arena, Red Bull Head Office and Hangar 7, attend 2-3 sporting events (likely Gaelic Football, Hurling, Rugby or Soccer)
 
Tourism included
• Guided walking tour of Edinburgh which includes entry to the Edinburgh Castle: One of Europe’s great castles this is a must see! The 1300 year old Edinburgh Castle is the fortified birthplace of the city and has been a fort, a royal residence and a military garrison. Your castle tour includes a 20 minute guided introduction and you are then free to explore on your own
• Scotland Highland’s & Loch Day Tour: This tour is the perfect way to see Scotland and search for the famous Loch Ness monster as well as experience the Scottish Highlands. Your “kilted” on board tour guide will explain the real story of 'Braveheart' and William Wallace's victorious tactics against the English invaders, and you will also visit the National Wallace Memorial as well as several other 30-60 minute stops on your way to the world's most mysterious stretch of water, the banks of legendary Loch Ness (8:00 am – 8:00 pm)
• Guided Walking Tour of Dublin: Your Guide for this two hour experience is a History Graduate of an Irish University and will provide a colorful and informative introduction to Dublin including stops at Trinity College, Old Parliament House, Dublin Castle & Christ Church Cathedral
• Tickets to the Dublin Hop On/Hop Off Bus Tour: This Tour has been designed to give you the freedom to explore and experience the history and culture of Dublin at your leisure. With 23 stops visiting all the main Dublin attractions including Trinity College (home of the Book of Kells) the entertaining on board Dublin tour guides will show you the city as only a native can
• Ireland Countryside & Castle Day Tour to the Boyne Valley: Experience the magnificent rolling green hills, coast line & Castles that are symbolic with this part of the world. You will see Newgrange, Mellifont Abbey, The Hill of Slane, Trim Castle & The Hill of Tara
• Experience Gaelic Games: You will have the opportunity to partcipate in a hurling and/or Gaelic Football practice session and enjoy fun games with students from your group
• Guided Canal Boat Tour in Amsterdam: Your captain will point out landmarks and this will be a nice relaxing introduction to the city. Note that Amsterdam has more kilometres of canals than any city in the world – including Venice, Italy!! The seventeenth-century canals of Amsterdam which are located in the heart of the city were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2010
• Guided Walking Tour of Amsterdam includes Dam Square, Flower Market, Red Light District, Jordaan District and the area surrounding your hotel
• Tour of Anne Frank House: A pilgrimage for many, this house offers a fascinating look at the hideaway of young Anne during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands in WWII
• Guided Bicycle Tour of Amsterdam: Your local guide will venture outside of the tourist area for you to experience Amsterdam neighborhoods, idyllic small canals, quiet hidden courtyards, etc. This is a leisurely ride with many stops and stories.
• Guided Bicycle Tour of Munich includes all the major sites and a lot of fun! This relaxed tour is an excellent orientation to the city with many stops and stories
• Full day trip (9:00 am – 4:00 pm) to two spectacular Bavarian Castles namely the “Kings Castles” (Konigsschlosser) where you will tour both the Hohenschwangau, which was “Mad” King Ludwig’s boyhood home, and then the Neuschwanstein, which was his second home and the castle that inspired Walt Disney. Tour includes a 50-60 minute bike ride through the valley (easy track/lots of stops)
• Full day trip (9:00 am – 6:00 pm) to Salzburg, Austria (from Munich). Salzburg is known for the tunes of Mozart and The Sound of Music and boasts Europe’s largest intact medieval fortress as well as a spectacularly preserved Old Town, splendid gardens and Baroque Churches
• Admission to 2-3 sporting events, schedules not yet available but likely Gaelic Football, Hurling, Soccer or Rugby
