Academic Site Visits

From an academic perspective our classes typically include:

  • A visit to Madison Square Garden, often abbreviated as MSG and known colloquially as “The Garden”, is synonymous with New York City. You will do a special behind the scenes tour of the facility and meet with management staff. In 2008 the Arena came second as “World's Busiest Arena” after the M.E.N. in Manchester, UK. The Garden is home to the New York Knicks NBA team & hosts a range of sporting events, concerts and other entertainment and is often referred as “The World's Most Famous Arena.”
  • A visit to the New York Yankees Stadium for a special behind the scenes tour of the facility and meeting with management staff.
  • Visits to Universities & Guest Presentations from professor’s as well as social facilitation with American students and facility tours. You will likely visit with students at the Academy of International Sport at George Mason University in the Washington DC area, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as Flagler College & Saint Leo University in Florida.
  • April Program Only: Students participating in our April classes will be able to attend the annual College Sports Research Institute (CSRI) conference at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for an in depth study of college sport and a fantastic opportunity to meet and socialize with USA students & faculty.
  • A visit to a National Football League (NFL) team front office, likely the Washington Redskins & a tour of their facility and the opportunity to meet with management staff.
  • A visit to a Major League Baseball (MLB) team front office, likely the NY Yankees and/or Tampa Bay Rays and a tour of their facility with the opportunity to meet with management staff.
  • A visit to a National Basketball Association (NBA) team front office, likely the Orlando Magic and/or Washington Wizards & a tour of their facility with the opportunity to meet with management staff.
  • A visit to a National Hockey League (NHL) team front office, likely the Carolina Panthers and/or Tampa Bay Lightning and a tour of their facility with the opportunity to meet with management staff.
  • A visit to a Major League Soccer (MLS) team front office, likely DC United & a tour of their facility with the opportunity to meet with management staff.
  • Game Tickets: Students participating in our April classes will get to see 5 games including NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS & an NCAA event. For classes May – August you will see 3 games including MLB game, MLS game, and possibly a NHL game (or alternate event). For classes in December, January & February you will see 4 games including NFL, NBA, NCAA Basketball & possibly MLS (or an alternate event).
  • A visit to Disney’s Wide World of Sports located in Orlando, Florida. Since opening in 1997 almost 2 million athletes from all over the world have competed at the Disney complex making it the #1 host site for Youth Sports in the USA. With over 40 square miles of unparalleled sporting facilities this is one of the world’s most diverse sporting arenas.
  • Visit to the Daytona Beach Speedway, home of NASCAR and enjoy a behind the scenes tour and meet with management staff.
  • Visit to the Cary, North Carolina YMCA club for a facility tour and the opportunity to meet with management staff and learn about recreational sports programs in the local community.
  • A visit to a Sports Media Outlet, likely ESPN magazine and/or ABC Sports.
