Saint Leo University, FL is offering a 2010 Summer Class to Australia catering to under-graduate Sport Management majors. The class is being conducted from May 3 - 24, 2010 and is open to the first 40 students who register. Saint Leo is kindly inviting students from other programs to participate with them in this fantastic opportunity to study Australia’s Model of Sport. Class credit can easily be transferred from Saint Leo to any other USA institution. There is opportunity for Saint Leo Alumni and just a few graduating seniors who do not need the credit hours to participate. The academic program is being led by Dr. Eric Schwarz, who in 2006-2007 was a Visiting Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Ballarat in Australia. His responsibilities included teaching classes, conducting research in leisure and professional sport marketing, and developing a postgraduate program in Applied Sport Management. Dr. Schwarz has presented on various topics in sport marketing and experiential learning at conferences in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. He has been most active with the Sport Marketing Association, where he has been a regular presenter, with articles published in the conference book of papers. He has recently accepted the position of Conference Academic Committee Chair for the SMA conference to be held in Cleveland, Ohio in October 2009. Dr. Schwarz is the lead author of "Advanced Theory and Practice in Sport Marketing" published by Butterworth-Heinemann/Elsevier in 2008, the university-level textbook fills a niche in sport management curriculum support. In addition, Dr. Schwarz is currently working on his second book, tentatively titled "Sport Facility Operations Management: A Global Perspective", scheduled to be published in early 2010.
